There was a time when meetings were held in Prince Rupert and demands made that the highway be completed within three or four years. Investigation, of the cost and the difficulties of construction have made it .necessary to mqdjfy the views of local people and they realize that it must .be some years before public opinion .can be focussed on the need for this highway sufficiently to secure a vote of three or four million dollars to complete it. The people in the south must ,be shown that the need is very great and that the benefits accruing warrant the expenditure of such a large sum. We think that Prince Rupert has not been well used' .in the .matter of highway construction and this does not! apply to any particular party. With only ten Jto twelve ' .miles of highway built in twenty-five years, it cannot be said that people here are not patient. The difficulty has: .been that lor several years this work was ,used as a relief jneasure and those employed did not do a real day's work,. Many ,pf -.them were not able to do it. Yet politically it is considered that a large sum has been expended ....... on the' iV- i i nignway. Prince Rupert Mrs. J. H. Fee, Anyox. Central Mrs. Alex Pongracz, Refuge Bay..
