One of the notable exceptions is the building that houses the Government Telegraphs. It seems as if the government should set a better ex ample than to carry on Its Important activities In a dilapitated looking structure which it would seem from appearances has not been painted since it was built at least a quarter of a century ago. But Vanderhoof Is much more than a farming centre. It Is the entrepot to the rlsh - Omlneca mining district to the north to was recently voted to enable the work to continue. There has been some cotroversy as to how the work should be done whether under the contract system or by the public works department and there seem to be advocates of both systems in thl district. As a result of the completion of onrtructlon work at some of the mines, fewer men are employed this year than last.
