A few days ago some tourists passed through Smithers from the United States with a light canoe on top -of their i automobile heading for Hazelton. On Friday the town was shocked to hear that two young men who had formed the party had been I thrown Into the Skeena River from heir canoe near Skeena Crossing while trying to navigate this rlvef and that , one of them had been rescued' by Indians while the other Julius Wanter, had been swept down the river to his death. With the water rising fast on account.of.Jiot weather the Skeena River is far more tigly thant-Us when the water is receding even though it might be higher at the time.
