The "Selkirk" grace was Invoked by the Rev. J. S. Patterson, minlstei protem of the church, after which a capacity audience sat down to the festive board laden with the good and wholesome dishes of auld Scotland. "The Hasgis," carried aloft by Murdo McLeod, was piped in by- Sam Leslie and the address to it was given by W. M. Brown In his own inimitable style. The toasts were in charge of the chairman. W. M. Blackstock, and his racy and witty remarks were much appreel-1 ated. Speaking in response to "The Immortal Memory" Rev. J. S. Pat ferson treated the life of the poet from the human side. While commenting on the beauty of language in many of Burns' poems, It was more of the relationship of the floet with his fellow men that Mr Patterson emphasized. His love, re gard and respect for his parents his condemnation of untruth and hyprocrisy, his scorn of class distinction and his krndry feelings toward his fellows were the points brought out by the speaker. The toast of "Bonnie Scotland' was responded to by J. J. Little who took his audience back to war days in a humorous description of a Burns Banquet he attended in 1917. The response to "The Lasses' was given Dy Mrs. j. t. Manay who, in humorous vein, gave the men some thoughtful remarks to carry home and ponder over.
