The funeral took place here on Wednesday last ' of Chief Alfred Danes, one of the best known of the native leaders o! .this district He was sixty-nine i years of age and had passed away on September 24. Officiating at the funeral were 'Adjutant and Mrs. Parkinson of Glen Vowell and Capt and Mrs. ; Pierce of Hazelton. From the house cf deceased, the cortege proceeded to the Salvation Army Hall where a brief service was held prior to the committal rites. The Hazelton Concert Band provided music Leading chiefs from different Til lages in the neighborhood acted as pallbearers. Over three hundred native people were assembled for the funeral. The late Chief Danes was well known all along the Skeena River. He was an active member of the Solvation Army. In addition to his widow.
