F. Glassey, secretary of the FedecttDistrict Liberal Association, received a telegram from Olof Hanson this morning reading as follows; "I interviewed Sir Henry Thornton and other officials of the railway today and I am now authorized to state that they will start construction of the new hotel at Prince Rupert at an early date and further that they will rush the work through to completion at the earliest possible moment." Mr. Hanson has been taking the matter up with the members of the federal government at Ottawa in order to be assured that the money for the work would be voted. Then he went to Montreal to see Sir Henry to get the definite assurance from him that the work would proceed at once. Mr. Hanson is remaining a few days longer in Ottawa to take up further matters with the government. Three sites have been under consideration by the railway company and it isiinderetjJtthat oneof'thcse-Iias -now been decided on but which is not announced. The new building is to be a substantial one, worthy of the commanding location which it will occupy. The railway architects have had the plans in hands for some time and it is understood the building will be laid out specially for the purpose of catering to the large tourist business that the company expects to pass through the city. By carrying on construction through the winter it is planned to have the hotel open next spring and in running order in time to cater to the tourist business next year.
