J; Alder 1 had a proposal before the board of directors of the Prince Rupert General Hospital at its meeting (last night whereby the city, as 'from March 1, should pay $1.40 per day covering accomodation of indigent patients not requiring active hospitalization and covering I whom the provincial government i per diem grant had been wlth- drawn after three hundred days lnmacy, the city to provide other accomodation for such patients at as early a date as possible. The majority of the members of the board felt that, in view of the long period of time over which " this question had been hanging fire, the board was Justified in . J asking that payment should be made retroactive t0 at least January 1. After considerable dlscus-jslon, a motion to this effect was jpassed with W. M. Brown dissenting. The motion also provides that these patients be removed by April '30. Some of the board members were of the opinion that the city payment should be retroactive to Jul" 1 last when the government grants expired. The question of whether or not collection from the city could be enforced at all was raised. W. O.
