CENTRE OF COMMUNITY I'aitor Deplores That Theatre and I Dance Hall Should be Takin; Place of Church and School That the theatre and dance hall should have become the centre of the community's interest instead of the church and school was deplored by Rev. H. G. Funston at nornlng service In First Presbyter-Ian Church yesterday. He would not. however, throw the church open to all the worldly pleasures In order to attract people to It. Such would not be a lasting Insurance or Interest in church. Possibly, the preacher himself might be partly to blame for the loss of grip by the church but not entirely by any means Without tht support and prayers of his congregation, the ireacher could hope for no large measure of success in his ministration?. Mr. Funston made an appeal for a return to the old source of the strength of the disciples quiet and earnest prayer. Mr. Funston's subject was "Attendance at Church and What it Means to You." Those who came to church with the Idea merely of helping the church, In the hope that they would derive business by so doing. In order to exhibit their new clothes, to hear fine oratory or as a routine and boring duty just because It was Sunday would derive little benefit from the church which, from a spiritual standpoint, stood to gain nothing from their presence. There was necessity to get back to the old principles and spirit In church attendance. At Scout Meet T W.
