August 16, 1940. ANTHONY EDEN'S VIEW . Some year ago Right Hon. Anthony Eden was remov- ed from office because he did not agree with the polic" of, the British government of that dav. His policy was one of distrust of the axis powers and of the desirabilitv af.j that time of taking a firm stand against the snread of i Fascism and Nasriism. Today this same man is Secretary of State for War in the Churchill administration and litis just as firm .and determined and sane in his views as he was then. He savs the British have all the chances in then-favor an'' will win the war but it will be long and bitterly contested. When the attempt at invasion has failed, as! fail it will, the British will have to invade the European j continent and already Mr. Eden, as war minister, is mak-i ing plans, to carry out this work. The British policy is not: only a policy 'for the moment but for next year and the: year after. There will be no appeasement this time. Nothing but complete victory will satisfy the British.
