ALASKA'S HIGHWAY The proposed highway through British Columbia to Alaska, which it is now admitted will be a defence project, would not amount to much unless Prince Rupert was also linked up with it by a highway to Hazelton, for Prince Rupert is now a garrison town and seaplane base of no mean importance. While Canada's first line of defence is in Great Bri tain, its next in importance will be on the Pacific Coast and Prince Rupert will be one of the important points which must be defended and must be connected with the rest of Canada and United States and Alaska by highway, no matter what happens in Europe. A few bombs might easily dislocate traffic on the railway but the modem method of attack and defence is by means of motor traffic and air. We shall soon have the air defences but the uncompleted highway remains a men ace to the rest of Canada. The Canadian Red Cross is doing wonderful work in! providing motor ambulances for Britain and carrying on a great deal of other important work in connection with the war, including the provision of a hospital and a London headquarters for Canadians in England. This month there is to be another drive for funds and doubtless there will be a jrood response. Prince Rupert people are not backward in this kind of gesture so they will doubtless respond this time as they have done before. REVOLUTION DESTROYS ITSELF It is amazing how a well-managed revolution can completely distort and destroy itself without ev.er admitting it, says Bruce Hutchison. Obviously the revolution of Lenin and Trotsky has been murdered by Stalin, who probably never believed in it anyway. He had no time for such nonsense as the dictatorship of the proletariat and the workers' state. It was to be dictatorship by Joe himself and let the workers eat cake. But so able a politician is Comrade Joe that he has convinced his people that he, who sold the revolution out, is its real saviour. And though Lenin, almost in his dying breath warned Russia against Comrade Joe, this smart manipulator has driven this warning from the people's minds by the simple method of liquidating all the Old Bolseviks. Trotsky was the last of them, the last Old Bolshevik, the last who knew and worked with Lenin, the last who could tell the truth about Comrade Joe.
