many
months
the
British
Mediterranean
fleet'
has
been
patrdline
the
sea
which
the
Italians
claim
as
their
private
preserve.
On
several
occasions
the
Italian
fleet
has
been
sighted
but
in
every
ca-e
it
retired.
Only
onc,e
was
there
a
real
.clash
and
then
the
Italians
suffered
most
Finding
that
the
Italian
fleet
would
not
come
out
from
the
shelter
of
the
shore
guns,
the
navy
organised
a
raid
on
Taranto
harbor
and
sank
pretty
nearly
half
(if
the
fleet.
Again
this
week
the
British
got
within
long
range
distance
of
the
enemy
but
with
little
result.
The
Italian
fleet
retired
at
full
speed
and
was
too
rar
away
for
effective'
shooting.

Bruce
Hutchison,
also
gave
the
government
a
roast
for
riot
cutting
costs
but
failed
absolutely
to
da
more
than
generalize.
