This will mark the closure of . all areas on the mainland part of the Prince Rupert district, leaving the north end of the Queen Charlotte Islands the only area in the whole district remaining open. The sum of chums is rapidly falling off and a number of seiners at the north end of the Island abandoned fishing at the end of last week. Inverness, Prince Rupert and Na-mu canneries on the mainland and Pacofl and Lagoon Bay on the Queen Charlotte Islands are still in operation but the most if not all of these will be closing this week-end as far as salmon canning is concerned, it is expected. PASSES AT KITWANGA Mrs. Celina Williams, Chief in Her Own Right, Dies at Interior Village. KITWANGA. Oct. 8: Mrs. Celina Williams, wife of Amos Williams, died suddenly at her home early last Tuesday morning. She had been ill .for two days with pneumonia. Mrs. Williams was a chief of the Frog Crest in her own right, her tribal name being "Chief Ha-lo-ws." She was well known all along the Skeena River. Many friends are deeply grieved by her passing. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon from St. Paul's Church. Many friends from various villages, including Skeena Crossing, came to attend the obsequies. There were many floral offerings and the casket was beautifully adorned. At the graveside a hymn "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" was sung. Pallbearers were Wallace Morgan and Robert Harris. In the evening a feast was held by the Frog Crest in the village hall. " Mrs. Alice Sampare succeeds Mrs. Wililams In the chieftainship. "We've got to deliver" CONDUCTOR: "Working hard, Sam?" ENGINEER: "You're telling me but I guess we shouldn't complain we've got safe jobs, and we're making t good money." CONDUCTOR: "That's right and we don't have any bombs dropping on us. We've got lots to be thankful for, I guess." ENGINEER: "It sort of puts it up to us to "do all we can. It's our war and we've got to win . . . wish I could do more." CONDUCTOR: "Well, one thing we can all do is to buy more War Savings Certificates. Money talks . . . you've heard that before... and in a modern war money fights." ENGINEER: "That's little enough to do, isn't it . . . just jend our money . . . and for every $4.00 we invest m War Savings Certificates we get back $5.00." CONDUCTOR: "Yes. I'm investing $20.00 in War Savings every month. At the end of seven and a half years I'll get back $25.00 every month. That'll be handy to have. We must all buy more War Savings Certificates . . . we've got to deliver." The help of every Canadian is needed for Victory. In these days o( war the thoughtless, selfish spender is a traitor to our war effort. A reduction in personal spending is now a vital necessity to relieve the pressure for goods, to enable more and more labour and materials to be diverted to winning the war. The all-out effort, which Canada must make, demands this self-denial of each of us. SPEND LESS- TO WV MORE WAR SAVINGS A. MacKenzie Furniture Ltd.
