EDITORIAL The Situation - - - While Senor Guido is urging the people of Italy not to bo too. optimistic about the war in. Russia, the German propagandists are making the most extravagant statements in regard to theiu successes against the Red armies. Naturally our sympathies.are with the people of Russia, if only for the reason that they are the attacked country and for that' reason, they are in the same category as ourselves. They have the grain, fields and. the oil fields that Germany covets. Also they have a huge population that they think might make good slaves for the German supermen. We notice that, a few people are inclined to remark: "Serves them, right," when, speaking of the position in which the Russians find'themselves, because by underhand penetration, and: political. manipulation they tried founder mine neighboring governments; In spite of that objectionable feature,, we are very strongly for Russia af against Germany and: so. are-most Canadians. ! It was- particularly noticeable that on Sunday last many thousands of Russians crowded into the Churches of Moscow and other cities, praying for divine aid in the present struggle for liberty. It reminds us of the atheists who when faced by death turn to the higher power to guide them as they pass into the great unknown. They are not sure of themselves. They recognize their own limitations anu seen: neip.trom.the. powers that rule the universe.
