In many ways the scene there has been virtually transformed and this has been done only as a result of an extensive program of remodelling and renovation which has been carried out with considerable thought, care and expense. But bowling continues to be a diversion of increasing popularity in Prince Rupert and, it is in view of this, that Max has really gone to town in providing a recreational facility to meet the increasing demand. There are already indications that full use will be made of the splendid quarters. The big feature, of course, is the provision of two fine new and complete regulation alleys installed to meet the demand -for more accommodation. In addition, the original alleys have all been relevelled, sanded and repolished. No less than seven coats . of alley finishing have been applied. There is a complete stock of new pins and many new balls have been provided in addition to " old ones being reconditioned. In short, equipment of the alleys lias been brought right up to scratch in keeping with the increased and improved accommodation of the place. The bowling fans will also find at Max's alleys considerable alterations and improvements in the general scene such as a new entrance, renovated ladies' lounge, new spectators' gallery to say nothing of increased seating accommodation for players and a new ventilation system. Such important features as adequate lighting have also been duly taken care of. To Audrey and Cy Kellett, winners of the city doubles last year, will go the honor of rolling the opening game tomorrow afternoon of what is expected to be in 1941-42 the biggest bowling season yet in Prince Rupert. Jack Wrathall will be on hand with liis camera to record in picture the opening action shots of the season. There will be league play this year on an even larger scale than ever, it is anticipated, with both civilian and military leagues. However, it is announced that two alleys will always be kept available foi the use of the general public in custom play. So it's all aboard for the formal opening of the 1941-42 season of which we expect to hear much more anon.
