There were large congregations yesterday at both services In the First United Church. In the morning the sacrament of the (Lord's Supper was observed with tne local minister, Rev. J. A. Don-nell officiating. In the evening the induction of Mr. Donnell as pastor was carried out by members of the Presbytery. Rev T C. Colwell of Port Simpson, was chairman. The lesson was read by Rv. J. A. Flndlay of Hartley Bay, prayer was offered bv Rev W. H. Pierce and the induction sermon given by Rev. Peter Kelly in his sermon Mr. Kellv srooke of the duty of the congregation. The responsibility of the success of the church rested on the mem bers of the congregation as much as on the shoulders of the minis ter. The minister needed the sud- port of the congregation in atten dance, In social activities and above all, in their prayers. To the minister. Large, Mrs. H. T. Lock, Mr. J. S. Wilson and Dr. Large, was effectively sung, and Mrs. H. T. Dixon gave a very impressive and. musical Interpretation of "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say." Reception Held Following the evening service a social was held at which manv members of the congregation and visitors met the newly inducted i minister and Mrs. Donnell. The program included a vocal solo by Seaman Joe Morrison, duet by Rev. and Mrs. Peter Kelly and a reading by Mrs. J. T. Mandy. Mr. and Mrs. Donnell were formally welcomed by the chairman, J. S. Wilson. He assured Mr. Donnell of the desire of the congregation to co-operate very fully in the work of the church. Leadership and service would be looked for.
