EDITORIAL New Theatre Here . It is satisfactory to know that steps are being taken to meet the need for a second theatre in Prince Rupert It is generally agreed that the present house, good as its service may be, is inadequqate to take care of increased demands for entertainment particularly entertainment of the forces who have become such a large portion of the population and for the wholesome diversion of whom there is a decided lack. It is to be hoped that steps now being taken will result in the situation being met with some measure of adequacy and with a minimum of delay" i Isolation Hospital . . . The establishment of an isolation hospital in Prince Kupert is a real need and another of several things that some action should be taken about right soon. With increased population, contagious diseases are becoming more common. Yet there is no isolation hospital here. The practice of treating isolation cases in the general hospital, it is agreed, is a risky business even under the best of technique precautipns. We understand that it is within the power of the hospital authorities to refuse admission to such cases. Why they have hesitated about doing this, it is explained, is because they do not wish to risk criticism through what might happen to the cases were they refused admission and treatment. The hospital might feel itself morally obliged to admit such cases, when no other accomodation is available (although we fail to see why they could not be isolated and treated at home or wherever they originate) but it might run into a situation where it would be legally responsible if, through admission of such cases, legitimate patients in the hospital were to contract the malady. It might be that the quickest and most effective way of getting action would be for the hospital authorities to stand by their legal rights and refuse to admit infectious cases. They would at the same time be protecting their legitimate patients" If the really responsible authorities are delaying, as has been suggested, in the matter of an isolation hospital, it is about time drastic steps were being taken to force them to take action" And the isolation hospital is only one of a number of matters affecting the health of this community which many feel should receive early attention. , For Quick, Safe andiComfortabie TAXI SERVICE.
