W'.CA. hostess houses have been opened during the last ten days In various parts of Canada. They are now in full working order giving their hospitality and varied services to the men in Canada's active forces, their wives and relatives. At Hagersville and Mountain View, near Belleville, Ont., hostess houses are now open to the men of the R.C JlI". training camps and their families in those two districts. Twenty-five miles from Brandon, Manitoba, near the town of Rivers another R.CJVF. training camp is now free to use the facilities of their Y.W.C.A. hostess house. Up in northern Manitoba, at the Macdonald R.C.A.F. camp there is . another hostess house. This is just a few miles from Portage La Prairie. For the families of pen at the military and artillery training camp at Petawawa, Ont., the Y.W. CA. has opened a hostess house 11 miles from Pembroke. It has a beautiful site, Just where the Petawawa River flows into the Ottawa River. Mre. G. Ince is the hostess in charge, and to help her Steve Arlington was a passenger she has Mrs. M. Ferris as assis- tant hostess. The house has an attractive lounge, an open fire place and gives emergency overnight accommodation. It Is close by the village of Petawawa where relatives arrive by train. Such a place, close to the station as it is. is badly needed because of the shortage of local accommodation which has been strained to the utmost. Located two miles north and overlooking the town of Picton is an R.A.F. bombing and gunnery school. Here the' Y.W.C.A. has opened a new hostess house, attractive with maple furniture and bright chintz. At this camp Canadian men meet the lads from Great Britain, using the hostess house as a place to entertain them and their families, and to form friendships. To the hostess house also come wives, Just arriving from Great Britain. Whifflets From The Waterfront C.P.R. steamer Princess Adelaide, Capt.
