FEBRUARY 11 , Waterfront Whiffs No Protection for Logging Camps From Enemy Action Massett Fishermen's Body Active Clam Canning Important Industry. An interesting announcement this week was that to the effect that razor clam beaches on Massett Inlet had been made available to the natives by the Nootka Packing Co. for the digging of clams by the Clam Canning Cooperative Association of Massett, the clams to be canned in Sam Simpson's cannery at Old Massett. The Co-operative association was organized during the past winter. Indian Agent James Glllett and Sam Simpson visited Vancouver recently to negotiate in connection with this enterprise. Herring Run Disappears ' The big run of herring which has been on at Khutzamatcen Inlet, Just south of the Naas River, which has been on for the past couple of weeks or so, disappeared completely at the first of the week, the fish simply moving out. Since then the only catches reported in the district have been ones around Namu. Since Ismail Tuesday only 100 tons of fish has j been received at Nelson Bros. Fisheries Ltd. cannery here.
