only
one

two
Alaska
highways
through
Canada
being
discussed
and
immediate
action
on
one
at
least
being
likely,
the
necessity
of
building
the
road
to
connect
up
the
coast
from
Prince
Rupert
to
the
in
terior
becomes
even
more
apparent
and
there
is
reason
to
believe
that
it
will
not
be
long
now
before
it
comes
into
being.
It
is
to
be
hoped
that
the
authorities
at
long
last
have
come
to
a
full
realization
of
its
essentiality
and
will
not
delay
construction
to
the
point
where
it
may
be
of
no
value
in
the
present
emergency.
There
is
also
an
important
international
aspect
to
the
Prince
Rupert
highway
in
that
it
would
be
an
important
link
in
communication
with
southeastern
Alaska
through
this
port.
All
indications
point
to
a
long
and
gradually
extending
war
in
the
Pacific.
Speeding
these
northern
high
way
undertakings
that
northward
to
central
Alaska

basketball
team
became
Army

defeating
the
102nd
Battery
team
by
a
score
of
35
to
22.
This
was
a
hard-fought
battle'
beCreen

top-notch
teams.
It
was
a
hard
game
for
the
102nd
to
lose
as
a
win
would
have
meant
that
all
three
teams
the
Scottish,
Artillery
and
Signals
had
a
change
at
the
honor
of
representing
Prince
Rupert
in
the
inter-area
finals.
Johnnie
Comadina
did
-
a
fine
job
of
refereeing.
Lieut.
Hope,of
the
Scottish
starred
by
scoring
11
points
for
his
team
with
Mitchell,
also
of
the
Scottish,
right
behind
with
ten
points.
The
Scottish
got
away
to
a
good
start
in
the
first
half
by
scoring
19
points
to
11
and,
in
the
last
half,
Mitchell-
went
to
town
with
four
baskets.
Both
Sirriannl
and
Knight
of
the
Scottish
were
ruled
out
of
the
game
in
the
last
half
with
four
fouls
against
them.
