John Foote, pastor of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Port Hope, Ontario, was among those left behind followlrlg the recent) in which Canadians took a prominent part. Capt. Foote was a padre overseas with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. He had actually re-erribarked aboard a barge following the raid but decided to remain with the troops that were left behind, diving overboard and swimming ashore.
