It was a grim report that Prime Minister Winston Churchill gave Parliament yesterday on the Near East phase of the world war. Mr. Churchill not only said that things were bad but suggested unmistakably that thev might be worse, that more grave news was still awaited. I tie Prime Minister did not mince matters at all. It was just about as gloomy a story as we have heard from him since the dark days of 1940 when France fell. It was a disastrous situation, the Prime Minister admitted, giving little suggestion of comfort. However, it was a speech which will only tend to make Britons fight all the harder even though there may be some who feel that the shock oi Libya and Egypt might come a little easier had we not been prepared for better things and led to believe that the situation there was under control.
