DaUy News Having had su;:i wonderful sup port not only from the Scandinavians but also from other nationalities we feel it is our duty to Rive you a report of what has been done since the abate mentsoaod wgantaatton was formed on March 26. 1948. First it is important for you to know that this committee consists of representations from three Scandinavian organisations in Prince Rupert. These are Vinland Lodge No. 28 (Sens of Norway), Valhalla Lodge No. 67 and the Varden Sing ers. Each has a representation of four. It is the aim of this committee to be of at least a little help In the war effort, namely to do our share in making the stay of the Norwegian forces in Canada as pleasant as possible. We feel we are strengthening their morale by showing them our gratitude far their sacrifices, knowing as we do the sacrifices they have already gone through in order to reach their goal a training camp in Canada. To go further into the history of these forces how they came into being, how they are operated and how everything generally Is running so smoothly we feel we are not competent to do. Suffice it to say that these recwilts kit their home country, knowing very well their lives were at stake, en tered a country strange to them in language and custom, their only motto: "train me, give me weapons, and send me back to Norway and from these non-stop Berlin." The old year is about to leave us. A little has been done, but there is yet a lot more to do. Let our New Year's resolution be "Support the Norwegian forces in Canada in every way possible." You can do so by supporting the work of the "Help Norway" committee, either individually or in groups. Individually your financial support or gifts for future raffles are welcome. In groups you can organize whist or bridge drives or entertainment. You are indirectly helping yourself by supporting organizations doing their share in furthering the war effort.
