A private, on enrolment receives (J0c per day. After three months' service this is increased to 95c. A lance-corporal is paid $1; a corporal $1.15; a sergeant, $1.50; a staff-sergeant, $1.70.-The daily pay of a company sergeant-major W.O.2 is $2.00; a quartermaster-sergeant W.O.2 receives $2.10, and a sergeant-major W.O.I is paid $2.80 per day. In the commissioned' ranks, a second lieutenant receives '$2.85 a day; a lieutenant $3.35; a captain $1.35; a major $5.20. The highest rank m the Cmadian Women's Army Corps is that of lieutenant-colonel, who is paid $0.70 per day. Officers and other ranks of the Corps are entitled to subsistence allowance when living out of barracks, payable as follows: Officers, $1.70 per day; other ranks, $1.25 per day. Non-commissioned officers and privates also receive an initial allowance of $15 on enlistment, and an additional $12 per year for personal necessities in addition to uniform and clothing which is provided. As with men of the Active Army, C.W.A.C. mefnbers also receive the best of medical and dental attention without cost to themselves. C.W.A.C. personnel is usually billeted in comfortable barracks accommodation. Living is simple, but there is by no means a lack of home atmosphere. Rations are the same as in other units of the Army, good quality food, cooked by experts on a ulanned diet. Organized sports play a vital part in the program of the C.W.A.C.; baseball, basketball, field hockey are played wherever facilities permit. The excellent services that members of the C.WJV.C. are rendering in these and many other capacities have already earned the Corps an enviable reputation with even the most particular Army officials. The Uniform They Wear: Officers and other ranks of the Women's Army wear a smartly-designed two-piece khaki ensemble. The tunic Is single-breasted, with two hip pockets and one breast pocket. Beech-brown epaulets and Canada badges are worn on the shoulders. The gored skirt Is worn 16 inches from the ground. Khaki shirt with beech-brown tie, khaki lisle hose and brown oxfords also form a part of1 the uniform. (The khaki peaked cap is modelled after the French "Kepi." The greatcoat is khaki, double-breasted, cavalry pattern, trimmed with beech-brown epaulets. A waterproof, gloves, overshoes, and rubbers are also provided as well as khaki canvas satchels. As in the other regiments of the Army, light summer drill is worn In summer and khaki serge In winter. Dress allowances are provided for the purchase of lingerie and underclothing. The Badges They Wear: "Athene," Greek Goddess of War and Wisdom, has been taken as' the symbol of the Canadian Women's Army Corps. The badges worn on the uniform include the cap badge, consisting of three silver maple leaves on one stem, placed on a lozenge of gilt, on which are inscribed the words "Canadian Women's Army Corps."
