RED CROSS WORK ROOM Special Committee of City Council Delegated to see What Can Be Done About It. Where to re-establish the local Red Cross workroom which has to move from the city police court room owing to its being again urgently required for its own function was a question which came .before the new city council at its I meeting last night. There was a .letter on the subject from H. A. iBreen, secretary of the local Red i Cross branch. Mayor W. M. Watts said there had been one proposal that the city council might . use the police court for its meetings and allow the Red Cross the use of the council chamber. The Mayor said he did not favor this Idea. Then it had been suggested that quarters in the city's engineer's deparement now used by Wartime Housing might be given over to the Red Cross for Its workroom. The reading room had also been suggested. Aid. Robert McKay suggested the old library building and Aid. Norah Arnold thought the upstairs portion of the library building, now used Is a museum, might be utilized by the Red Cross providing the necessary structural strengthening was carried out. Finally the question was referred to a special committee consisting of Mayor Watts, as chairman, Aid. T. H. Sorenson and Aid. G. S.
