Canada, Mex ico and Brazil are using tne same seal. Canada has the added distinction of supplying the seals net only for herself but for Great Britain and two of her dependencies Jamaica and British Guiana countries in which wartime restrictions on paper have made printing their own sejals impractical. Designed by Andre Duga, Internationally known artist and Illustrator, the 1943 Christmas seal depicts a small girl looking out of a window and seeing Santa Claus driving across the sky. In describing how the design came to him, Mr. Dugo says: "I wanted to show the spirit of Christmas and to represent at the same time the wonderful work of the tuberculosis associations. So I decided to paint a happy, healthy child in a world where it is possible for children to believe In goodnessandthe spirit pt Christmas, in Santa Claus, Jn miracles and-in fairies in short. n, ideal which fame, is one way of representing the aim of the Tuberculosis Associations to rid the world of one dread enemy of health, happiness and security." In Canada, tuberculosis takes 6,000 lives annually, more than half of these among young people between 15 and 45. More than 50,000 persons are now suffering with tuberculosis. MANAGINQ EDITOR DAILY EDITION Tji Thursday. November 4. 1-943 Tim Buck ... Many people who heard Tim Buck during his two-day visft to Prince Rupert were disappointed. They had expected to hear this national figure and head of the extreme Left Wing 'movement in Canada deliver himself of something radical if not treasonable. Evidently they did not anticipate an exhortation for united effort on the part of all interests to speed the Allied victory and continue their unanimity into planning the peace and the re-establishment of democratic principles and practices as far as expedient. Tim Buck expressed simply the war aims and the peace aims of all earnest people, emphasizing the es- and pentiality of unity of all in bringing these aims about. most entirely from the sales of j ... ....... ..... uul.n Christinas. -seals.
