Thomas Elliott, the city council Monday passed a vote of appreciation to the Canadian Fish & Cold Storage Co. which had given the city the services of five men for two days in connection with the testing out of the old Shawatlans steam pumping plant with a view to determining whether or not it could be used in bolstering up the city's water supply. The names of Col. J. W, Nicholls, J. E. Boddie, Mike 'Lemon, William Cummlngs and 'Alex Newton were specially men tioned in connection with the matter. The mayor also told how Mr. Boddie had turned out early one morning to turn off a valve In the Seal Cove area when a break had occurred in the water main.
