IS REQUIRED Department Head Back From I Victoria Where He Attended Convention. Fire Chief H. T. Lock returned yesterday afternoon from a three-week visit to Vancouver and Victoria, during which he attended a convention and fire school of the B.C. Fire Chiefs' Association at Oak Bay. Mr. Lock reported that 47 members of the association attended, the gathering, including representatives of the Underwriters association and a representative of the Provincial Fire Warden's office. Demonstrations of fire fighting equipment in acti6n, and lectures and discussions on fire prevention and control were the main business of the gathering, Mr. Lock said. In a speech at the banquet which concluded the convention, W. C. Mainwaring, provincial A.R.P. head, stressed the need for the continuance of air raid precautions saying that, when the Allies make their all-out attack on Japan, the Japanese might retaliate with attacks on this coast.
