Aid. McKay brought up at last night's council meeting the question of garbage disposal from the Summit Apartments where there is a garbage shute and large box which Is too heavy for an individual to carry to the lot line. As a result there had been no disposal since the recent new lcgulatlon which calls for the leavng of garbage on the lot line. The agent had endeavoured to obtain individual garbage cans but was unable to do so. It was decided that the city should endeavour to get a new supply of garbage cans for sale to the public. The city council, on motion of Aid. Hills and Aid. Sorensen, last night accepted an Invitation for the mayor and members of the council to attend a dinner to be tendered to Tim Buck, national leader, by the local branch of the Labor Progressive party on October 31. The invitation was conveyed in a letter from Bruce Mlckleburgh, chairman of the local branch. Aid. Brett would have left it to the individual member of the council to decide for themselves whether or not they should attend. The Prince Rupert Trades and Labor Council had a letter before the city council last night suggesting that a public convenience be established at the coj-ner of Third Avenue and Sixth Street. Aid. Daggett and Aid. Black were in sympathy with the proposal, feeling that this was a section of the city where something of this nature should Martha Logao, Swift's famed Home Ecoqo; mist, whose week! cooking columa is s tegular feature of this pge. Robert McKay, chairman of the board of works, told the city council last night, after matter had been brought up by Aid. Thomas Elliott, that the contractors for Wartime Housing, Smith Bros, and Wilson, had' promised to attend to the making of repairs to Hays Cove Circle sidewalk near the. Booth Memorial School which had been damaged by their trucks. It was suggested that any new walk be placed at a distance further removed from the street line so that trucks could not reach it. Removal of the structure at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Hays Cove Circle which had been used as an office will also be sought.
