I'lionc Clue 917 MARCH FOR CANDIDATE Smart Parade Yesterday in Sup port of Miss May .McElwain, Dry Dock Choice for Carnival Queen As part of the campaign in support of May McElwain, pert and popular candidate .of the dry dock in the Civic Centre Carnival Queen contest, a smart parade was held through the business section yesterday af ternoon. The central feature was an attractively arranged float which took the form of a bunting and flag-bedecked miniature Victory-ship mounted on a truck in which the pretty coronation candidate, attrac tively dressed in a pink frock and carrying a bouquet of gladioli, rode with two winsome little maids Grace Cheeseman and Edna Gardner who wore blue and yellow and carried i bouquets of asters. The parade was led by the local Navy band which played lively marches. The route was from the Court House grounds on McBride Street, along Third Avenue to Sixth Street, down Sixth Street to Second Avenue and along Second Avenue back THE DAILY NEWS to the Court House grounds. It was a pleasant afternoon and considerable numbers were on the streets. Under Lieut. Charles Toombs and Lieut. C. J. Nor.ington respectively, "C" and "Dn Companies of the Prince Rupert Machine Gun Regiment took part in the parade, presenting a smart appearance. A guard of honor for the queen candidate was provided by the Sea Cadets. Dry Dock workers carrying banners of the various trades they represented shipwrights, riveters, platers, caulkers, machinists, sheet metal workers, electricians, Joiners, painters, stores, welders, engine fitters, commissary, timekeepers, laborers, cranemen were also in the march.
