There have been signs of herring for some time around Khutzamateen and else where. Meantime, the seiners and the -'Backers are all in port but will be heading out as soon as the weather changes. Neither Is there any salmon trolling activity onn accout of the cold weather. Temperatures have been much too low for fishing. However, some of the small boats should be trying It out once a moderation comes. No official advices have yet been received as to when the halibut fishing season may be expected to open this year. Last year the open ing date was April 16 and there has been nothing but speculation In regard to a possible change this year. Some of the boats are now being prepared.
