Fourth Largest City . . . ..p. i. 1 II; PAOE TWO THE DAILY NEWS PKINCE RUPF.TtT, BRITISH COLUMBIA Published Every Afternoon Except Sunday by Prince Rupert Dally News IJmlted. Third Avenue G. A. HUNTER. MANAGING EDITOR DAILY EDITION Besncr Block Saturday, November 27, 1943 The annual report of the Department of Municipalities says that Prince Rupert is the fourth largest city in point of population in British Columbia today. The people are here but, as we have often said before, the city is not geared to take care either of the population or the increased demand due to war developments. Prince Rupert, as a city, is, therefore unable to take full and normal advantage of the prosperity that 'should be occasioned thereby. Unfortunately it has so far the aspect merely of an unnat ural boom which, however, will no doubt settle down j to our permanent advantage. The Mosley Case Release of Oswald Mosley from prison on medical grounds is an indication that British authorities feel that he is no longer a source of danger. Sometime the st ran ire case 'nf Sir Oswald and Lady Moslev will receive the studv it deserves. What led these people up such obscure and dangerous avenues? Was it a craze for notoriety or an exaggerated egotism, or was there some sincere patriotism mixed with their folly? Certainly the Mosleys served their country w ell, though unconsciously, by giving Britain an object lesson in how stupid and ridiculous Fascism was when seen close up. After a few of Mos-ley's shows it was definitely certain that not e.ven the abysmally weak leadership of the MacDonald-Baldwin era could turn Englishmen to a Fuehrer of the Mosley type. The Mosleys seemed to be on a quest' for something m that would really benefit their country. Thev tried affiliation with Conservative, Liberal and even parties, without achieving anything. Then they turned to Fascism, with the ridiculous idea that British people could be led that particular alley by glamorous uniforms and exaggerated gestures that were more in nlace in the Piazza Venptia th Square. Third Street ACTIVITIES OF Y.M.C.A. AND Y.W.C.A. By DOROTHY GARBUTT Yesterday afterrioon, filled with the spirit of Impending Christmas, Chester Le Malstre and I went out Into the wtlds of Prince Rupert and gathered evergreen boughs, ferns, moss, pine, spruce, salal berry leave and a variety of fauna whlci shall be nameless but beautiful. I tried later to help Chester in arranging them but he was so immensely more adapted to the task that I soon let him do it all and the results are delightful, they are the first of the Yuletide decorations. I heat that the short name of Throckmorton, the dummy. Is George. So Lester Patrick, who is his ahem sponsor says, , and he also says that he feels very hurt unless you call him by his first name. In fact, he rather leans to Georgle. if anything.
