This fair-minded term should always be used because Britain was never entirely Teutonized. Writers of history repeatedly mention this fact. "Anglo-Saxon" is misleading, inadequate, one-sided and too German. If one of my1 parents came from Saxony and other from England I would then be one hundred per cent Anglo-Saxon. Not otherwise! "Saxon" sounds foreign because it signifies people of Saxony in Germany where the term truly applies. Generally, British people resent being dubbed "Saxons," especially In view of the fact that Germans have killed and maimed little British children and committed ruthless crimes. There Is no need whatever for us to share the German appellation. It doesn't make sense. 1 We hope to see "Saxon" abolished soon from reference to our. race. They were not the only people on the Island. There were Iver-nlans, Celts, Angles, Jutes and later, Danes' and Normans In Britain. The conquest or south Britain, by the triple Teutonic invaders during the Fifth Century proceeded slowly because the natives resisted bravely. Therefore Scotland Is far more Gaelic than even Anglican. Wales and the Isle of Man are practically wholly Celtic. The Celtic blood of the Britons Is in the people of England also, from the Helvellyn Hills in the northwest to. the English Channel. True, there are more words of continental origin in English than strictly native ones but we still have some ancient British household words from our Celtic ancestors and they certainly count. It's right for us to be so British as possible and show the world that wedo not derive our entire origin from Germanic tribes. We English-speaking peoples should always agree to call ourselves Anglo-Celts, thus representing both main elements of our race namely, Celt and Teuton. Be British, Anglo-Celts, English-speaking, Canadians, Australians, etc.! These terms are expedient for obvious reasons. They show good form and will avoid much heartache. By giving half the credit in representation to our Celtic fore fathers will show courtesv and Justice which will be admired by all ilght-thinklng persons, Including members of our valiant Allied nations.
