The Senior League will see three teams taking the floor for the right to represent Prince Rupert at the end of the season when the locals meet the best of the southern centres for the Senior B championship of the province. FIRST YEAR SHOWDOWN This will be the first year that a northern team has claimed the right to a showdown with the boys in the south and we have every indication that our boys are as good as they come In the Senior B ranks anywhere else. The only Senior B team that has ever played here was the CNit. entry from Vancouver that met such a disastrous defeat at the hands of the Rupert boys around the early nineteen thirties. Since then plans have been laid to have the local body associated with the B.C.A.B.A. in order that we could have our say in who was crowned champion but plans were never carried out and this year there will be no stopping the Prince Rupert Bas ketball Association until the provincial crown Is safely tucked away at the Civic Centre. WANT ( LOB ETit OTTER S Alex Bill, secretary of the association, Is at present in Vancouver and will meet repres entatives of the B.OA.B.A. and outline plans we have to enter tain the winners of the southern section of the province While in Vancouver, Alex will also contact Chuck Jones, the Canadian manager of the world famotfs Harlem Globe Trotters with a view to having the Trotters play here this season If possible and if not to have them on JOHN H. Packers stripping two Vancouver men who are total strangers here, their position with regards potential winning powers Is of course more or less unknown. PICK OF SHOW The' 99 Taxi lineup is at present the pick of the show with the grand display of names such as Beynon, MacPhee, Houston, Domlnato, Lindsay and there is no doubt that (he foregoing bunch of athletes are the chaps to look out for. Carl Zarelll will parade a team made up mostly from the ranks of last year's great intermediate championship team which also carried the Savoy name. He has big Joe Davis, this season's baseball find and all-round athlete to work his team around but is letting Dr. Montgomery, former U.B.C. mentor, do the worrying about positions and plays. Also on the Savoy string will be Sonny Stiles, Alex Bill, Boyo Gurvich. the two Holkestad brothers, Mel and Rupert. Ted Arney the scoring ace of last year's Intermediate playoffs and Bobby Vucko-vich who will also be playing his first year In senior company. ROSS HANDLES PACKERS Neil Ross will handle the B.C. Friday when a taxi belonging to Arrow Cabs slipped Its brakes and made a "free" run down the lane at the rear of the Stone Building. Jolted considerably out of shape, the wandering taxi came violently to rest in an excavated hole after rolling over a 10-foot cliff on the Second Avenue side- of the lane. A crowd of several score of bystanders -watched while a bl3 army wrecking truck pulled the damaged vehicle out of the hole. The cab had been parked at the rear of the taxi stand only a few minutes before by one of the drivers. Had It continued on a few feet further, it would have struck a corner of the West-holme Block.
