The holiday season for the nurses has commenced and two members of the staff are now away. Advertising for nurses outside the city Is productive of no results. In view or the nurses shortage, the first floor of the hospital was closed dur.ug the past month. The result lias been congestion alternately on the second or third floors. During the month of April thrre were 221 Inpatients as compared with 227 In March and 204 In April of last year. The outpatients this April numbered 88 compared with 158 in March and 330 in April 1945. There were 1716 inpatient, days last month compared with 2229 In March and 2333 in April a year ago. With total expenditures for the month of April $10,339.30, the per diem cost was $5.75, the finance committee reported.
