Scouts Volunteer To Rebuild House PRESTON, Ont., V) More than 3,000 "work hours" have been voluntarily contributed by senior scouts and enthusiastic young men In the reconstruction of Preston's famous "Scout House," which was gutted by fire In December last year with damage exceeding $5,000. The boys have done most of the reconstruction, calling In outside help only for electrical wiring, plumbing and spray painting. Every care is being taken to rebuild as closely as possible to the original appearancewith a look-out for new facilities wherever practical. Cost of the reconstruction has been borne largely by voluntary subscriptions made by firms, organizations and citizens. A total of $3,000 was collected, while Insurance coverage on the building was only $2,400 as against the $5,000 loss. Officials are hopeful that the buildingbegan as a sone barn some 110 years ago--will be entirely free of debt on c-mple-tlon. Preston's popular Teen Canteen, which was also housed in the building.
