Discovery The local Captain Cook corps of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets will leave for their annual camp on July 16 by the steamship Catala. The camp which will be. held at H.M.C.S. Discovery, Stanley Park, Vancouver, will last till July 30. The lads will leave Vancouver on their return, reaching . Prfticc Rupert on August 2. The changes in dates and location of the camp have not interfered with the number going. If anything there may be a few more of the corps going. At present there are 48 registered. The executive of the unit has been very busy making adjustments to take care of the final changes and the hundred -and-one odd things. These include parents' consents, medical examinations, vaccinations where necessary, clothing issues, transportation allotments so that each lad is assigned his berth accommodation both going and coming, sittings for meals and duty rosters on both Journeys. The executive officer, paymaster and master-at-arms have put In many hours In taking care of all details. Also at the camp will be corps from Vancouver Island. Comox will send 31, Nanaimo 26, and Victoria 84. From the prairies come the Calgary unit with 15 and Edmonton unit with 8. There will be approximately 210 at camp. Whifflets From The Waterfront Qaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Two Interesting visiting craft at the Prince Rupert Yacht and Rowing Club floats over' the Dominion Day holiday were the power yachts Rusty Penne and Swiftsure which brought the Ketchikan baseball party, numbering 30 persons in all, to this port for the games on Sunday and Monday. Having left Ketchikan at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, the two vessels arrived here at 7:35 a.m. Sunday. Both the Rusty Penne and Swiftsure were in the United States Coastguard service as patrol vessels out of Ketchikan during the war, passing Into private ownership after the war ended. The Rusty Penne, now owned by Art Simonscn .with his father, Ted Simonsen, as skipper, is ?. fifty-footer equipped with tw0 40 h.p. Chrysler gasoline engines while the Swiftsure, owned by Stan Bernhoft, is 51-feet in length with a 165 h.p. Superior diesel engine.
