Scott Writes for Easter to His Former, Parishioners of St. Peter's "The times In which 'we live are not very hopeful ones," writes Rev. Edward W. Scott, former rector of St. Peter's Anglican Church here, from Winnipeg, where he is now working among returned men tX the University of Manitoba, In an Easter letter to his former parishioners of the east end here. "As I work among the returned men I find that they are extremely worried and concerned. "We here in Canada have no realization of what conditions in Europe are really like of the uncertainty, the hopelessness, the suffering, the mistrust and suspicion all of which are the everyday things in Europe, We have no real conception of the lack of respect for human beings which has grown up where men do not count for anything as humans. This so easily grows. Unless we here In Canada can protect this fundamental belief that human beings are children of God and make this belief real In our relationships one with another In every walk of life then we are not on firm ground. Men and women, you and I, were so important in the eyes of God that he considered it worthwhile that Christ should die for us. "Jesus saw mankind as a unity and when one person or group mistreated another then it was like the hand of a body cutting off the feet. We need desperately to regain some conception like this so that we become concerned about the welfare of all men as children of God and cease to be complacent. This gives us a basis tor acting and living at home and also in our relationships with people elsewhere. "The thing that you and I can do Is to help rather than hinder to strive that the goal will be much nearer because we have lived only when wc do this do w.e really have life and life abundant."
