RUPERT NOT BADLY OFF Ready-lo-Wcar Supply Situation Here Better Than Elsewhere Local Man in New York After Nylon Sale "Prince Rupert ready-to-wear stores have proportionately more merchandise than those of Vancouver or Montreal and Canadian stores appear to have more on their shelves, bare as they may seem, than those in the United States." Such Is the observation of L. M. Felsenthal, manager of the local People's Store organization. who returned to the city Wednesday from a business trip south and east. Mr. Felsenthal hastened to add, however, that there was no improvement in the supply situation In Canada and no immediate prospect of an improvement. From coast to coast on both sides of the line shortages of merchandise continue "acute. Mr. Felsenthal visited such cities as Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. He also crossed the line and was In New York and Pittsburgh. His mother and sister are in the latter city. The local business man happened to be In New York the day after nylons went on sale In the big Gimbel store. They advertised 26,000 pair going on sale. Before 1 p.m. 30.000 women had trled lo buy them. The store was so Jammed that the women could hardly move. Three whole floors were roped off In aisles and there were police, patrols.
