Alderman Nora E. Arnold, prcsl dent of the Prince 'Rupert Women's Canadian Club, told the 21st annual meeting of the club in the Civic Centre last night. Mrs. Arnold, who was re-elected president by acclamation, said in her annual report that Canada has won a great name among the nations of the world during the past struggle' "and it is up to us to help keep our reputation as a fair-dealing and generous nation with the less fortunate and needy peoples of the world. "Many people will eventually wish to emigrate to this bounteous land of ours and, when they come, the women of the Canadian Club can help them to become true Canadian citizens and have the same patriotic love of our country that we ourselves have," Mrs. Arnold said. "Let us keep before us not only the worth and glory of being Canadian citizens but also remember that such rights and privileges also entail certain duties. It is the part of every Canadian woman to take an in- telllgent interest in public af-1 fairs. We have the privilege of suffrage in this country and we should all exercise our voice on matters that concern us all and concern women In any special capacity". In outlining the activity of the club for the year, Mrs. Arnold said that" Its membership of 137 made it the third largest Women's Canadian Club In British Columbia and that If such a position is to be maintained new members must be sought.
