NEW CHIEF IS MARRIED Important Wedding Took Place This Week at Kitlmaat At the specific request of the late Chief Edward Gamble before he passed away recently there was no interference with the nuptial plans of his son and successor as chief at Kltkalta so the marriage proceeded on Wednesday afternoon of this week, the day which had been chosen a year ago. Nevertheless, the fites were overshadowed to considerable extent by the fact that the village was still in mourning. Visitors from various coast villages were present to crowd St. Peter's Church in KitkatU when Russell Gamble, the new chief and son of the late Chief Edward Gamble and Mrs. Gamble, took as his bride Gloria Morrison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Morrison and niece of Chief Heber Clifton of Hart Kitkatla expressly to conduct the wedding. Mrs. Elizabeth Clifton of Hartley Bay was matron - of - honor and Medric Nelson of Prince Rupert was groomsman. There were ten bridesmaids and ten other groomsmen. Little girls acted as tralnbearers. With the bride in 'traditional white the matron-of-honor and bridesmaids were all beautifully garbed. Following the ceremony the Excelsior Club Hall was the scene of a wedding feast at wfiich the elders of the village and other important personages took a leading part the speakers including Chief and Mrs. Clifton of Hartley Bay, Edward Clifton, James Lewis, Jonathan Hlil, Henry Brown and others as well as the officiating clergyman. In all, 200 persons were present. Guests also included J. A. Find- lay of the Indian Office at Prince Rupert and Mrs. Findlay who made the trip with the depart mental cruiser on which Rev. B. S. Prockter also travelled. Mr, Findlay. formerly of Hartley, was the bride's school teacher there. Classified Advertising pays.
