Fitzpat-rick, who led (he Catholic ladies' group, and Mrs. Alex Mcltae, who directed the preparation of surgical dressings. Workroom conveners over the years were Mrs. Eve, who was also responsible for organizing the Wartime Housing group, Mrs. J. D. Fraser, Mrs. F. A. Mc-Callum, Mrs. J. D. Low, Mrs R M. Wlnslow, Mrs. C. II. Elkins, Mrs. Jessie Jacobs, Mrs. James Glllett and Mrs. Finnic Mrs. Gillett and Mrs. Finnis were In charge of the examination of knitted goods for three years. Branches of the workroom were organized in different sections of the city. There was thf Wartime Housing unit, organized by Mrs. W. F. Eve, and led bj Mrs. Robert Cameron, Baptist Anglican and Luth'eran groups St. Peter's evening branch, thf Good Neighbor, Eden and Cath olic groups. . Port Simpson and Massett Helped There were two native groups In outlying centres, whose work was cleared through the Prince Rupert depot. The Port Simpson group specialized in knitted seamen's socks while the woollen quilts made by the Massett group drew high commendation. Incidentally, the Massett group ie still carrying on. Outstanding, work in quilt making was done by-Mrs. J. Fred Ritchie .of Prince Rupert, who worked with the Catholic group. In the dark days following Pearl Harbor, $20,000 worth of emergency hospital disaster and relief supplies were sent to Prince ltupeit under the care of the local Red Cross branch. Fortunately they were never required to be used, and have since been sent back to provincial headquarteis. A notable effort by the Red Cross here was the salvage cam palgn which was carried on under the chairmanship qf P. C. Miller, who gave large amounts of his time to collection, sorting and shipping.
