Kergin, Fourth Avenue West, was the scene yesterday of a highly- succesful and enjoyable tea and sale of home-cooking sponsored by the mothers of Job's Daughters. Many took advantage of the beautiful spring day and wended their way to the lovely home of the charming hostess. The guests were received by Mrs. Kergin assisted by Miss Marie Boulter, honored Queen of Job's Daughters. The tea table, beautiful with its Irish lace cloth and centrepiece 0f yellow, daffodils, was bordered by all cream tapers, the bases of which were interwoven with purple and white tulle, signifying the colors of Job's Daughters. The beailty of the setting enhanced the scene and drew many favorable comments. Those presiding at the urns were Mrs. Ralph Morin, Mrs. J. A. Frew, Mrs. Rcbert Gordon and Mrs. S. R. Donaldson. ' . Serviteurs consisted of members of the Bethel Dorothv Kergin, Beatrice Kirby, Glenys Lashmar. Solveig Mork, Monica Holtby, Andrey Hunter, Barbara FJaten, Margaret'' Murray, Viola Mary Prendersast, Lorna Donaldson and Ruth Walton. The hcme-cooklng table was laden with delicacies which attracted the eyes of all. The table ; was under the capable direction of Mrs. H. Mork and Mrs. L C. Eby. Master Here, to Be Through at End or Month After 36 years of service with the railway company, H. E. Alton retires on superannuation at the end of this month from the position of Bridges and Buildings master for the Canadian National Railways at Prince Rupert. With Mrs.. Alton he plans on taking up future residence on Vancouver Island. His successor will be H. C. Halliday, at present B. and B. foreman here. A native of Ontario, Mr. Alton spent three years in the service of the Canadian Pacific Railway In his native province and In 1910 joined the construction department of the Canadian Northern Railway In Alberta. With the completion of that railway, he joined -the operating department in 1915. He came to Prince Rupert in 1931 to succeed A. L.
