In addition the failure to rebuild the former Hitjh School court contributed to the decline in the game. H was at this court that most of the city's young hopefuls were trained. Already the season Is well under way as enthusiastic racket wielders took advantage of the fine weather or May and June. Returning to the net fame after an absence of several seasons ' are former title holders Bob Houston, Iouise Morrison and Evie Rlvett. Eddie Gladding. foimer Premier single champ, is still with the game. These players with several newcomers show promise of displaying a Rood brand of Journament tennis. Sunday's play Is expected to lure whatever fans have not yet fcund their way to the C. N. Park. To prevent any slump in form because of wet weather the club Is investigating the possibly of obtnivln? the Indoor court on Acropolis Hill. Complete with the exception of a net, this court wa the scene of the winter's basketball series and is now un-deronlrol of the Civic Centre. All In all, conditions appear favorable and by I he time tournament week rolls along enthusiasts of Wie net game may again witness that' standard of play reminiscent of the days when Roy Morrison, Jimmy Hor-ton, Mrs. W. Lamble and Mrs. P. Tinker ruled the courts of the city.
