They plan shipping the car from Ketchikan to Anchorase and thence driving southward over the entire length of the Alaska Highway. Two of the daughters called at the Daily News office yesterday afternoon Just before sailing for the north. They were not very enthusiastic about the condition of trie British Columbia roads which they had travelled in coming here, saying they would not want to have to make the return trip. They were innocently enough looking forward to the trip over the Alaska Highway which they said they had been informed was black-topped and hard'-surfaccd for its entire length. Evidently, they were unaware of any difficulties they might encounter in the way of driving restrictions or other complications. The four women came north through Seattle, by-passing Vancouver to proceed direct up the Fraser Valley to the Cariboo Highway and thence to Prince. Rupert by way of Prince George. Port Day committee chairman Tony Crawley, appeared at Thursday right's meeting with a yachtsman's cap in his hand bearing a Port Day slogan above the shiny 'black bill. He suggested that, as a publicity angle, all members of the Junior Chamber pf Commerce wear a similar cap for a week or two prior to Port Day.
