HIGHWAY MAY BE OPEN IN TWO WEEKS Repair of the Shames River bridge, who Is expected by Public Works Engineer J. C. Brady to be completed "within two weeks," will open the Prince Rupert Highway for traffic to Hazelton and beycrt That, of course. Is nrovidins that a heavv I snowfall does not cover the road 1 so deeply as to halt traffic. ' At present, the road is cleared of snow and can be travelled from Prince Rupert as far as Shames and from the other side of the damaged bridge clear through to Hazelton. Bulldozers, acting as snow plows, have piled snow on both sides of the highway, but the road itself is clear. The Terrace bridge crew which is repairing the bridge has been held up recently for a short time for lack of material but the work is progressing again and should be finished within the next two weeks, Mr. Brady said. One department bulldozer is keeping the road clear west of the Shames bridge, while there are two maintaining the road east of Terrace. Arnold Flaten has also been kind enough again to audit the books of the chamber for which I thank him. To the press, especially Alex Hunter, who has given us a great deal of his valuable space covering the business of our meetings and also for advising me when anyone of importance arrived In the city, I extend my thanks. "To my knowledge this Is the first time in the history of the chamber when it has been necessary to have the services of two secretaries in a president's year. E. T. Both these I thank for their valued assistance and co-operation throughout the year. "You will note on the ballot sheet that these two gentlemen are running for the office of secretary; the only advice that I can give you on this matter ,is that whichever one you elect, you can rest assured that you will have an efficient secretary for the chamber."
