More than 100 parents and friends of the Sea Cadets turned out at the annual "At Home" and presentation of trophies to the local Captain Cook Corps last evening. First of all there was a demon stration of the usual classes of instruction under Sea Cadet per sonnel. It was a fine thing to see Lieut. Walter Smith, with his practical active service experience, giving Instruction to the lads. Other instructors In charge were Midshipman Bob Cruick- shank, Midshipman L. Young- man, Midshipman Mel Thompson, C'.P.Q. Kennedy, AC.P.O. C. Currie, P.O. A. Mendels, CP. O. Dob MeChcsney, P.O. W. Davidson and LS Hemmons. Then came a display by the band whose playing and counter marching, under Midshipman, Mel Thompson, were one of the features of the evening. Mid shipman F. D. James was officer of the day. Lieutenant Commander A. S Mitchell welcomed the guests on behalf of the corps. White there had been some losses In numbers during the year it was gratify Jng to have some ex-members return. New equipment was being made available and wider courses of instruction would be given from now on. He was glad to be able to say that there were capable lsstructors in the corps able to give advanced training. He urged all parents to become members of the Navy League. He then announced the winners of the various trophies and presentations were made. Presentation Of Trohpics Commander C. M. Cree trophy for the best cadet of the year was presented to LS Overgaard. In making the presentation Lieutenant Commander F. N. Eddy commented on the fine record of this cadet who had one hundred per cent attendance in addition to his all round efficiency. The Canadian Legion Trophy for the best cadet in his recruit year was awarded to Cadet Allan Forman. Dr. It. C. Bamford, president of the Legion, expressed hisnffasnTcat'beingftble'to make this presentation. It had year corps as a whole on their splendid appearance. The Lionel A. Holtby Trophy for the best cadet in the corps was presented by Mrs. Holtby ln the unavoidable absence of the donor. The winner was C.P.O. L. It. noddy who, as master-at-arms, had filled a very responsible position with great, efficiency. A new trophy was that presented by the Women's Auxiliary of the Navy Lcaguo. It was for the best wrenette. This unit' had already made a creditable name for itself in its short period of existence and, ln making the presentation to Wrenette Ethel Hemmons, Mrs. J. ft.
