Cooper, G2-year old widow of Billows, Rockcastle County, whipped' the housing shortage, largely with her own hands. She decided on a stone house. and not a little one at that. Lack of funds didn't hinder Jier, but! Inability to get labor did. So Mrs. Cooper picked up stones from ad- Joining fields and the bluffs surrounding her house site and hauled ihem lo the location herself 200 wagon loads of field stone. Tod.y there stands her accomplishment a sturdy 14-room stone home in the little valley on the Rockcastle River midway between Somerset and London, Ky. "I needed a house." said Mrs. Cooper, "and I meant to have one if I had to build U myself." She doesn't lay claim to doing all the work, though she also dug most of the basement. She hired workers to lay the stone for the walls, to nut on the roof, and lo do some" of the henvy finishing work. She did the rest. Her total cash outlay was about $2,000 and some observers have' estimated the house Is easily worth live times that much. Advertise In Th! LHv News. ONLY W. M. S.
