At that time he was the only Canadian naval public relations officer on duty In London. The public relations establishment at headquarters, however, grew In size as the Canadian Navy de veloped and extended operation. Cmdr. MacRItchle now has undef him a staff of about 10, primed and ready to sail with units of the Canadian Navy when the United Nations lnVade the con tinent. Cmdr. MacRKchie was pro moted to the rank of acting Ileut enfcht-eommandef last January his new job in London as chief public relations officer. Promotion to commander was announced last month. Son of Mrs. Catherine Mac-Ritchie of Stornoway, Scotland, Cmdr. MacRItchle served as sub urban editor, assistant sports editor and reporter on the Toronto Star. In 1926-33. He went to the Windsor SJtar as night editor, district editor and city editor, successively. He returned to the Toronto Star In 1933 and a year later Joined ihe Qlobe and Mail.
