Transport Command staging post opera-tionlng in the Corsica-Sardinia area that has two 2,000-pound bomb.? buried somewhere down beneath the station headquarters. There's another staging post whose personnel have watched their tents the only shelter they have blown out to sea 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 or washed away by torrential rains time after time. Still another staging post was so recently the scene of battle that residents of the flat tened town nearby who fled during the conflict haven't yet ventured down 'out of the hills to find out who is occupying the air strip. Despite conditions like these, Transport Command ground crews are doing trojan work in establishing new air ways so that urgent supplies can reach the battlefields of southern Europe quicker. The landing fields on Sardinia are largely make-shift as yet me living conditions of the ground cerws are definitely so but already transport command planes are moving 1,000,000 pounds of , the earth and ended up under the main building on the air field. There, the Briti&h found them some weeks later when the field was occupied. And there they will remain until more urgent matters are dealt with. N., was united In marriage to Corporal Calvin Lewis of the United States Army. The bride wa3 attired in a gold colored silk dress and black hat with flnger-tlp veil and had a corsage. She was attended by Miss Elvina Brewster as bridesmaid. The latter wore a two-piece pale blue silk ensemble. The ceremony was performed by the Padre, Capt. W. D. Rowlands, and Owen Murray gave me bride in marriage. Technical Sergt. Vergil Odden was groomsman. The bride entered the church as the Wedding March was played by Sgt. Walter Robertson. Sergeant Robertson also played during the signing of the registrar. A guard of honor from the bridegroom's Company' was formed at the chapel door. A re ception was afterwards held in the Commodore Cafe where some CO guests were received by Mrs. Corbould, mother of the bride, attired in a navy blue twp-piece suit".
