While violinists are rather scarce in this vicinity. Leading Wren Wearne Is hopeful mat such musicians will be located and that the group will be able to enhance the cultural stana- ing of this city. Far from being a stranger to this area, Leading Wren Wearne was born near Smithers and her family still lives In that locality. However, it was while she was attending school near London, England, that she took lessons on the 'cello for three years. Be fore she began studying ine cello she had taken piano In ¬ struction for some time but it was the baritone-voiced string Instrument that caught her fancy. Durine the 15 months sne has been in the W.R.C.N.S. Leading Wren Wearne has found that she and her 'cello have often been in demand for entertain ment nurooses. Playing the in strument Is Just a hobby, of course, since her main duties are performed in the communications branch of the Navy. Talent along musical lines seems to run in the Wearne fam ilv for her mother Is an accom plished pianist and her sister plays the violin. This modest Wren "kllllck" has always been fond of classical compositions and Joined a music appreciation group soon alter arriving here. Although she en- ioys dancing she does not favor jazz.
